"Junior" as he was affectionately known, was born on a farm near Battle Creek, Michigan. He left school after the 6th grade to help care for his mother and a large family. The Pike Family moved from Michigan to Hutchinson, Kansas in the late 1940s and eventually settled in Tucson, Arizona in the early 1950s. He served a Cook in the U.S. Army during the 50s, and later became an accomplished Mechanic and Heavy Equipment Operator for the Peter Kiewit Corporation (San Xavier Rock & Materials). He was a retired member of the AZ Laborers and Teamsters Union. His pleasures were working on old vehicles and cooking for family and friends.
Dad's culinary creations; homemade pies, flap jacks & gravy, ham & eggs, corn beef hash, fired corn mush, beef & noodles were the comfort foods of our youth, and are often yearned for to this day.
Above all he was a devoted and loving father who worked tirelessly to provide for his family. Thank you Lord for the time we shared together!
