Obituary of Joseph J. Eigner

Joseph J. Eigner (89) born October 2nd, 1929, passed away on April 15th, 2019 at 10:26 a.m. Joe was born in Linden, New Jersey where he entered the U.S. Army in 1946, served in Vietnam and Korea, and retired in 1975 with the highest enlisted rank of Command Sergeant Major. After the Army he worked in various occupations in Sierra Vista, Arizona - he started the very first Wendy's drive-through as the restaurant Manager, worked for the Chamber of Commerce and was a Director of the Jim R. Smith Cable TV Company and helped found Cochise Bank. He lived in Hilton Head, South Carolina from 1990-2010 where he and his wife Margie became co-owners of the H & R Block located in Bluffton, South Carolina until Margie's death in 1999. In 2010 he moved to Tucson, Arizona where he became an avid volunteer, contributor and University of Arizona sports enthusiast. Joe truly will be missed as a generous, thoughtful, loving, kind and gentle soul, loved by many family and friends. He is survived by his sister, Margie Wardenski, son Joseph J. Eigner, Jr., daughter Anita Latin (Retired Air Force Colonel), daughter-in-law Margaret, son-in-law Lyle Cantrell, three granddaughters - Ellen, Anne, and Sarah, and two great grandsons Finn and Rowan. Joe will be interred, along with his wife in Arlington National Cemetery, Washington D.C. with full military honors.Joseph J.
