Obituary of Thomas Louis Hibner
Thomas L. Hibner, 80, died Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Brookdale Oro Valley in Tucson, Arizona. His passing released him from memory and bodily health concerns he had been suffering from in the preceding months.
He leaves his wife of 50 years, Barbara (Mitchell) Hibner; his brothers Reverend Cyprian Richard Hibner and Harold Hibner; his son and daughter-in-law Jason and Gayle Hibner, three grandchildren, Dustin, Wyatt, and Emily; and many close friends, to go be reunited with his son, Eric Hibner in God's kingdom.
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin May 31, 1938, he and his family relocated to Tucson, Arizona in 1980.
Tom attended high school at Don Bosco and graduated in 1956. He attended college at Marquette University where he earned his degree in Business Administration. In his young adult years, Tom returned to Don Bosco as a coach and teacher. He spent just a few years there, but it remained in his heart for a lifetime. It was during this time that he met his wife through mutual friends. They were married April 19, 1969, and the next year they were blessed with their son, Eric. In 1974 a second son, Jason, completed their family.
Tom worked for a number of different financial institutions, in both Wisconsin and Arizona, as a real estate broker and loan officer. This happily provided him the opportunity to meet many people. Tom never met a stranger, and, as a result, had many close friends. In addition to time spent with his family, he regularly attended U of A sporting events, was a season ticket holder for football and basketball, and was an avid member of the El Conquistador Country Club, where he swam. Tom was also active in the parish of St. Mark's Catholic Church and volunteered throughout the community at places such as St. Vincent de Paul.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 22, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the chapel at St. Mark's Catholic Church. The service will be followed by a reception at the church and a private burial at Holy Hope Cemetery.
