Obituary of Mavis Jean Collins

Mavis Jean Collins 9/3/1937 - 3/16/2019 Born in Michigan City, IN to Edward & Florence Brant. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Richard Collins (Tucson, AZ) and two children, Linda Collins(Nancy) and Gayle Gilman (Doug) and three grandchildren Chris (Heather), Lindsey (Bren) and Rachel, and great grandson George. Mavis graduated from Ball State University in 1959 with a teaching degree and married Richard on 8/1/1959. She was a stay at home mom while their children were growing up and after moving to Tucson in 1984 was employed at the University of Arizona, retiring in 1997. She led a very active life of biking, hiking, running and traveling/camping, including hiking the Grand Canyon multiple times over the years. She enjoyed singing in the church choir for many years. For the last 20 years she and Richard spent their summers in Indiana spending time with family. She was known for her infectious smile and pleasant personality and will be missed by all who knew her. Memorial gifts may be made to Our Saviour's Lutheran Church. Arrangements by Adair Funeral Home, Dodge Chapel.
