Obituary of Owen Talley
Owen Talley Jr. was born in 1949 to Owen and Bertha Marie Talley in Little Rock
Arkansas. Known as "Sonny," he grew up in the company of a big and loving family.
Owen, a Vietnam veteran, met and married his wife, Peggy, in 1974.
Owen and Peggy were a team. Their jobs took them from Columbus, Ohio, to Wichita,
Kansas, to Tucson, Arizona, to the United Kingdom, and back to Tucson, where they
and their members raised funds and built House of Prayer Church on Mission Road.
Owen would do anything for anyone that was within his power to do. If you asked him
for help, he would come and fix your car, your plumbing, lay tile, pray for you, sell
your car or what have you. He gave unconditionally. He was the epitome of a loving
husband and father and made sure to encourage his children to graduate from college.
After a lifetime of hard work, Owen retired in 2015 with more than 44 years of Military
and Federal Government service. At his retirement celebration, the Lt. Colonel from the
headquarters in Albuquerque flew in to present him with many awards and accolades,
including a flag that was flown over Tucson in his honour. Owen passed away
February 19, 2019.
