Obituary of June Barnhart Cullen

June B. Cullen, 63 years old, passed away peacefully at her home in Tucson, AZ on January 23, 2019. She was born on March 9, 1955 at the U.S. Army Hospital in Tokyo, Japan. June is now reunited with her father John C. Barnart, her mother Sachiko (Wakabayashi) Barnhart and loving husband Carl E. Cullen. June is survived by her brother, George Barnhart and niece, Elizabeth Barnhart (both of California) as well as her four step-children, Linda Lyons (from Washington), Cathy Spradley (from California), Brian Cullen (from Colorado) Eric Cullen (from California) as well as her loyal dog, Obi. June graduated in 1973 from Seaside High School in Seaside, California and continued her education receiving an Associate's Degree from Monterey Peninsula College studying drafting and architecture. June worked many years for Safeway where she met her husband, Carl in Carmel, California. June and Carl married in 1998 and shortly thereafter she became a UFCW union representative where she worked tirelessly. Ultimately, her passion for her job resulted in her becoming a UFCW Vice President before retiring to their dream home in Tucson. June was truly a kind and gentle soul who enjoyed spending time with her friends, to include the four-legged kind at the local dog park, volunteering and travelling when she could. When asked for help she couldn't say no. She actively volunteered to help others at the Golden Goose thrift shop, finding homes for orphaned pets, and working with others in the community to help seniors remain independent as long as possible. June was spontaneous, always willing to do things on the spur of the moment. She was always there to brighten the lives of others, whether they were family, friends or strangers. June will be interred with her husband at the California Central Coast Veteran's Cemetery in the Monterey Bay area. June's smile and warm heart will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The song is ended, but the melody lingers on… ~Irving Berlin
