I didn't grow up near family. Our family was spread out all over the country and sometimes the world. So when Uncle Phil and Aunt Sally came to visit, it was a special occasion. He was a charming, loving uncle who intrigued us with stories of his many experiences growing up and in the Air Force. He had a wonderful sense of humor and kept us all laughing. Phil and Sally and their family were stationed overseas in Libya for a time, but we often got to see them when we were growing up. We had annual family reunions that they attended. We visited them in North Dakota and Kansas, and they came to visit us in Philadelphia. After Uncle Phil retired and they moved to Tucson, we still kept in touch by phone. Our latest visit was in 2004 when we took my father, John, to visit his brother, Phil, in Tucson. It was a memorable reunion and Uncle Phil treated us royally. I know Phil is happy to be reunited with Sally and his family. He was a wonderful Christian man. He will be missed. Love and peace to Gayle, Claire, and Julie and their families.
