Obituary of Wanda Jean Sells
Wanda Jean Sells passes away on June 6, 2018, at the age of 81 years old. Wanda was born on December 31, 1936 in a small Mormon colony in Chuichupa, Mexico to Una and James Anderson. She was the second youngest out of eight children. As the children grew up, one by one they moved from the family's one room house where they all lived, to live in the United States to go to school, work, the service and/or to start a family.
At the age of 13, Wanda moved to Miami, Arizona with her older brother Lynn and his wife Imogene so she can attend high school. Moving from Mexico to the United States was quite a shock to her as she experienced running water, indoor showers and flushing toilets for the first time. She stayed there until she graduated from Miami high school 1955, then moved with her sister Leola and her husband Wally in El Paso, Texas.
She began working as a waitress at her brother-in-law's restaurant, where she met her husband Wilbur as he was a regular customer. Wilbur was originally from Indiana, however he was stationed in Fort Bliss in El Paso as a Military Police Officer in the Army. Wanda was 17 and Wilbur was 21 years old when they met. After a few months, the two married on August 31, 1955. In 1977, Wanda and her family moved from El Paso to Tucson, Arizona. Wanda was a stay at home parent until the children were older and she began working at Furrs cafeteria as a baker. Wanda was married to Wilbur for 62 years until his passing on November 25 2017.
Wanda is survived by her three children; son Bryon Sells; daughter Debbie Sells; daughter Julie Pie; and four grandchildren Jessica and Austin Riddell; Brittany and Heather Sells.
