Obituary of Robert Conrad Murphey
MURPHEY, Robert Conrad, Jr. 63, passed away August 8, 2018 after he lost his four year battle with Lewy Body Dementia. Rob, a third generation Tucsonan, was born to Robert Conrad Murphey and Patricia Elder Murphey on February 1, 1955. Rob was the grandson of John and Helen Murphey, prominent developers and Civic Leaders here in Tucson. John Murphey was founder and builder of the Catalina Foothills Estates, built hundreds of Joesler homes and numerous public venues, including Broadway Village Shopping Center, Hacienda del Sol Guest Ranch and St Phillips Church in the Foothills, just to name a few. Rob, or as many fondly referred to him as "MURPH", lived a wonderful life full of adventure. He was an avid and passionate outdoorsman, skilled hunter, fisherman, and competed successfully in Cutting Horse Competitions with the S.A.C.H.A., winning Amateur Non Pro Titles. His most memorable being a NCHA Western Nationals Championship in Ogden, Utah in April 2003, just days after marrying the "Love of his Life" Susan, on April 22nd. Rob was involved in several business ventures throughout the years, including a favorite, his partnership with brother-in-law, Tight Lines Fly fishing on Grant. Rob is survived by his wife, Susan Bustetter Murphey; his daughter, Kaela Jade Murphey, (25); son, John Robert Murphey, 'Jack' (13); sisters, Christine Murphey and Helen 'Elena' Richter, (David); nieces and nephews, all who adored their Uncle Rob-Bob. Rob lived life with NO Regrets! He never lost sight of how fortunate he was and he lived every day with a Grateful Heart! He found "True Love", had a wonderful family and many dear friends. Although gone too soon, Rob Murphey had a "GREAT RIDE". Rob's journey here on earth has come to an end, but He has left behind numerous memories for us all to Honor, Cherish and Emulate. I.L.Y.P.F.A.A. There are no funeral services being held. Donations to the LBD Association in Rob's honor would be greatly appreciated. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel.
