Of the many things I remember about Larry, [and there are many stories I could tell] is how much he missed Caroline. I would talk to Larry at least once a week on the phone (actually I mostly listened...) and the conversation would always turn to how much he loved Caroline and missed her. He worried that he would never see her again and it broke his heart. Typing that line I realize how true that may be...
I would frequently have dinner with Larry. Always an experience. The photo of Larry with the blue shirt was taken at my house. I was making dinner last week and thought about Larry. Ted's statement about Larry is true, Larry would do anything for his friends. As I shared at his memorial he brought me dinner when I broke my let earlier this year.
Sometimes people come into our lives to for reasone we will never undersatand. I learned a lot from Larry; about his family growing up, about living in San Diego (my home town,) about his struggles, medical issues, personality traits (Larry was very open about his shortcomings,) and his love for Caroline. Always about how he missed her and worried about her life.
His last message to me on July 20th after a phone conversation about the fourth doctor he saw and the third one to say he needed a pacemaker right away. (Larry dreaded going through that procedure, sadly.)
""Hi Steve, I got a lot of pain in my chest, but I want to sincerely thank-you for wanting to help me & the kindness you have displayed to me. Please let me know if I can help you anytime. Sorry I am a pain in the [butt]. Take care & God Bless."
I replied that he wasn't a pain!
Caroline, know this and keep this in your heart. Larry loved you more than anything and missed you so much.
Larry Rosen: Loving Father, Friend, Flawed (like us,) Giving.
I miss time with you.
Steve.

Larry’s distinguishing characteristic was his deep love and devotion to his daughter Caroline. His life revolved around her. in spite of all the difficulties he had to navigate, his joy for his daughter never wavered. Thank you Larry for your example of a devoted father

Brother Larry, I am so happy that you came into my life. You taught me so much. I respected you even though I often lost my patience with you. That's what happens with brothers. You would have given the shirt off your back without hesitation for anyone in need. You loved Christ and your beautiful daughter, Carol. I will miss you. You may rest now. Carol is strong and we will take care of her. She carries you with her. Love, Brother Ted
