Obituary of Dolores Ann Vaccaro

Dolores Ann (Cappadona) Vaccaro, born in August 1931 in Norwich, New York to the late Joseph and Rose Cappadona passed away at the age of 86 on April 13th, 2018 in Tucson, Arizona. Dolores was married to the love of her life for 50 years to the late George V. Vaccaro. She was preceded in death by her son, George J. Vaccaro; brother, Joseph Cappadona; twin sister Marianne; and grandson Joseph F. Vaccaro. Dolores is survived by her daughter, Camilla Dodds (Jeff Dodds Sr. deceased), sons Frank (Michelle) and Peter (Michel), and Gaetano; daughters-in law; Eileen Vaccaro and Maureen Tritle. Dolores cherished her 14 grandchildren and her 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews! Her family was most important to her and she considered many friends part of our family. Dolores graduated from Benjamin Franklin Medical School as a X-ray Technician in 19525 and worked in the medical field until she moved to Tucson with her husband and five young children in 1968. She worked for Associates in Internal Medicine until she retired in 1985. She dearly loved the doctors and her co-workers. Dolores was always happy to help with her grandchildren's soccer tournaments, Girl Scout and Boy Scout programs and being a teacher's helper in their kindergarten and first grade classrooms. She loved being around the children so much she started working in the cafeteria at Mesa Verde Elementary and Cross Middle School. She loved seeing the little ones every day. Dolores was very proud of her daughter and sons' many accomplishments including Gaetano, who was an associate producer and is now a psychologist; Peter and Frank , who both graduated from the Air Force Academy and retired from the Air Force; and Camilla and George who owned their own companies. Please join us for a celebration of her life service at St. Odilia Catholic Church at 7570 North Paseo del Norte in Tucson, Arizona 85704 on Saturday July 28th at 11 in the morning. Reception will follow at the parish hall.
