Obituary of Robert Samuel Bedillion
Robert Samuel Bedillion, 73, of Tucson, passed away on July 11, 2018.
He was born on April 8, 1945 to Samuel and Florence (Wright) Bedillion in Washington, PA. He moved to Tucson in the 1950's, then Dayton, Ohio where he graduated from Beavercreek High School. He attended the University of Arizona and the University of Maryland, where he earned a bachelor's degree, majoring in English and history. During the Vietnam war, Robert served in the US Army at Edgewood Arsenal, Maryland, in the 7th Data Processing Unit as a computer operator.
On December 24, 1965, he married Bonnie Sword. The couple made Tucson their permanent home in 1971. Bob worked as a computer operator, a lubrication specialist at ASARCO, in home construction, and held various clerical positions.
Robert enjoyed camping and backpacking throughout Arizona and New Mexico over many years with his family.
He is survived by his loving spouse of 52 years, Bonnie, his son Brett Bedillion of Manhattan Beach, CA, three grandchildren of Tucson, Victoria Loredo, Mason Bedillion, and Brandon Britt, two great-grandchildren, Bentley and Melanie Schreiber, and his brother Donald Bedillion, of Vermilion, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Samuel Ashley Bedillion, of Wheeling, West Virginia, his mother Florence Alberta Swinehart, of Tucson, his sister Janet Fluke of Arlington, Texas, his sister Shirley Zack of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, and his daughter Melanie Bedillion, of Tucson.
Funeral services will be held on July 19, 2018, at 9AM at Adair Avalon Funeral Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave., Oro Valley, AZ 85704.
Burial will take place at 11AM at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Marana, 15950 North Luckett Road, Marana, AZ 85653.
Memorial donations may be made in Robert's name to his favorite charity, Casa Maria Soup Kitchen. A check may be sent to Casa Maria Catholic Worker, 401 E. 26th St., Tucson, AZ 85713, or donations may be made online at www.casamariatucson.org.
