Obituary of J. Edward Starr
Ed Starr was born in St. Louis in 1939. He was an educated undergraduate at Colorado College where he met his wife of 56 years. He was in his senior year and Nelle was a new freshman; they became engaged at the end of Ed's senior year and married the following December.
Following the wedding, they moved to Stanford, where Ed was studying for his PhD. Their first daughter, Kathryn, was born in 1962 and their second daughter, Carley was born in 1964. At graduation, Ed was employed at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, NY. Ed retired at the rather young age of 52 and a few years later moved to Tucson, where Nelle's family had lived for many years.
Happily, their two daughters followed them. It was a joy for Ed to be near his "girls". Ed loved living in Tucson. He loved the heat of summer and was impatient of winter (even though it awasn't long). He played ping-pong weekly with a group of seniors, and avidly pursued genealogy. He was in charge of the Starr DNA project.
Over our years, we happily met Starr cousins on occasion. Ed so very much enjoyed those occasions.
