Obituary of Frank McClure
MCCLURE, Frank of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on May 4, 2018 at the age of 87. Frank was born in 1930 in Floris, Iowa. The son of a livestock dealer, he learned the art of negotiation at an early age. After graduating valedictorian from Bloomfield High School, where he met the love of his life, Mary Jo, he attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College and served in the U.S. Marine Corps, attaining the rank of sergeant. He began his automotive career at a Ford dealership in Iowa. A short time later, he stopped in Tucson, Arizona with Mary Jo, and their young daughter, Kelly, on their way to California. During this planned brief stay, he decided to apply for a job at Monte Mansfield Motors, was hired on the spot, and started working that very same day. Suffice it to say, he never left. Frank continued his lifelong career in the car business in Tucson. He eventually became a familiar face as part owner and president of Holmes Tuttle Ford. Frank was also actively involved in several civic and charitable organizations, including: Safe Kids Program, Save-A-Life Foundation, Boys and Girls Clubs, YMCA, and the American Red Cross. Frank received numerous awards and accolades; he was most proud of winning the Father of the Year Award in 1996, presented by Father's Day Council Tucson. He loved early American antiques, traveling to New England, fishing in Alaska, University of Arizona Athletics, and Westerns portraying Jesse James, whom his dog is named after. Frank was genuinely passionate about helping others and exhibited true kindness. He was always able to see and bring out the best in people. His generosity knew no bounds, required no recognition, and changed lives. Described as having the common sense of Harry Truman, the business sense of Lee Iacocca, and the humor of Will Rogers, Frank was above all else, a family man. His first priority was always his family. Frank is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary Jo; daughter, Kelly Ross; granddaughter, Shannon (Ross) Bennett; brother, Jerry McClure and numerous nieces and nephews. Donations in Frank's memory may be made to Save-A-Life Foundation savealifetfd.com or Boys and Girls Clubs bgctucson.org. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.
