Obituary of Charles Bratton Murtagh

MURTAGH, Charles Bratton 68, a native Tucsonan, passed away on April 13, 2018. He was born on November 23, 1949 to James and Elizabeth Jane (Bratton) Murtagh. Charlie is survived by his brother, James Robert Murtagh, Jr. (Nancy) of Tucson, AZ; nephews, Christopher (Emily) Murtagh, James Jacob Murtagh and Jethrow Murtagh; niece, Marybeth Murtagh; great-niece, Guilliette Murtagh and great-nephew, Maison Murtagh. He was preceded in death by his parents. Charlie attended Robison Elementary, Mansfield Junior High, and Tucson High. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a B.A. in Business Production Management, and he was a proud member of the AZ Air National Guard. Charlie had many passions in his life in addition to loving family and friends: world travel, engineering, building, and working. He was employed by Rent Center for many years building, creating, designing and repairing equipment. He also worked in the Service Dept. of Don Mackey Auto Dealership for a few years. Afterwards, Charlie was a job service placement officer at DES and took great joy and pride in helping hard-to-employ individuals. Charlie traveled to all seven continents and many countries within each. He took great interest in the history and the beauty of the world. He also enjoyed exchanging travel stories with others. He used his engineering and building skills to help many people both in his neighborhood and in his family. His love and care for old friends and extended family will be greatly missed. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018, 10:30 a.m. at the ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave., Oro Valley, AZ. Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers.
