Obituary of Amelia Mary Bell
Amelia Mary Cairns Bell, 84, of Tucson, AZ, Passed away on April 3, 2018 at home attended to by people she loved. Amelia was born in Brooklyn, NY to Bernard and Pearl Cairns on May 5, 1933 and grew up in Brooklyn. She married Edward H. Bell on May 26, 1951 in Brooklyn, NY while he was home on leave from the U.S. Navy. They had two daughters, Cynthia and Cheryle. The young family moved to Tucson, AZ in June 1959 and have called the desert home ever since. Amelia was a very loving mother. She taught her daughters how to to "everything." She has endured some of the most difficult situations ever. Her faith and love of God and family is what kept her strong. She lost her daughter, Cheryle in 1978 to a rare blood disease. A year later, Edward passed away. A couple of years later, her daughter and a friend decided that "Mom" should start dating again. They set her up on a blind date with a wonderful man named Ken. They were soon married. Ken provided her with a fantastic life for for the next 28 years. At that point in 2011, our Lord decided it was time for Ken to make the journey home. Amelia is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Mort; sisters Dorothy Cairns Palazzolo and Bernadette Cairns; grandson Joshua Mort; granddaughter Vanessa Necoechea; great-granddaughters Adrianna Necoechea and Angelica Garcia; great grandsons Maurice Grant and Mey-sin Hollowell, great granddaughter Cher-lin Hollowell; great grandson, Jae-lin Hollowell; great-great granddaughters Raven Persico and Kieta Bell. Amelia is preceded in death by her first true love, Edward Bell in 1979, her youngest daughter Cheryl Ann Bell in 1978, the love of her middle years Ken Sylliaassen in 2011 and her parents Bernard and Pearl Cairns. A Rosary recitation will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 9:00 am followed by a Memorial Mass at 10:00 am in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 215 S. Craycroft Rd. with Father Ricky as celebrant. Committal will take place in Holy Hope Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements by Adair Funeral Home, Dodge Chapel.
