Obituary of Joan M. Kays

KAYS, Joan M. 96, was met March 14, 2018 at heavens gates by angels and loved ones. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gladys and John McCoy; brothers, Clifford, James and Richard McCoy. Husbands Orval B. Holmes and Robert Kays and son, James B. Holmes. She is survived by daughter, Penny (Norm); son, Barry (Lori); stepchildren, Debbie, Robbie (Sharon) and Greg. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 17 great- grandchildren who were dear to her heart. Joan was born in Yonkers, NY and was one of four children. Joan moved to Canada at age five where she attended school, met and married her husband, Orval in 1939 at age 18. They were married until his death in 1967. A few years later Joan met and married Robert Kays. They loved to travel to Hawaii and explore Route 66 until his death in 2000. Joan enjoyed her career with TUSD as a cafeteria supervisor. She loved to travel abroad but her heart belonged to Hawaii. She was caring inside and out, loved life, family, and her friends. Nurturing her family to be strong and independent, passing her legacy on in so many ways. At Joan's request there will not be a service. She wants to continue her travels with family to multiple destinations to continue her adventures. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.
