Obituary of Gilbert L Braun
Dr. Gilbert L. Braun, age 84, of Tucson, Arizona in recent years, and of Cincinnati, Ohio for many years prior, died on Thursday, March 15, 2018. Born in 1933 on Long Island in Hempstead, New York, to Mina and Ludwig Braun, his life was focused on nurturing and educating others. In 1955, he earned a degree in music education from the College-Conservatory of Music and the University of Cincinnati. As a freshman at CCM, he met the love of his life, Mayree, and they were married for 62 years. He was an organist/choir director for several churches (most notably St. Stephens Episcopal), a music teacher for Cincinnati Public Schools, a private piano teacher, and an ordained minister. In 1962, he obtained an MA from Xavier University in counseling and was a guidance counselor at Princeton High School from 1967 to 1987. In 1996, he received a Doctorate in Clinical Counseling from the University of Cincinnati and provided private counseling and psychotherapy until he moved to Tucson, Arizona in 2016. He enjoyed creating intricate model train layouts. He's survived by his wife, Mayree, sister, Carol Barber, children, Katherine Morgan, Karl Braun, Kristina Mader, and Kimberly Braun, 2 nieces, 4 nephews, 7 grandchildren, and 5 and a half great-grandchildren.
