Obituary of Irene Lisaius

LISAIUS, Irene, At 97, Irene Lisaius passed away on February 28, 2018 joining her beloved husband in Heaven. Born on December 28, 1920 in Detroit, she was the 11th of 12 children. She married Al, her instant beloved, on February 22, 1941 in Detroit. Irene, Al and their three children relocated to rural Howell, MI where they bought a farm, worked it and other jobs, and raised their kids. With the kids raised, they bought the Bass Lake Store in northern Michigan where they successfully established a legacy of great service and personal attention while providing an unexpected and delicious array of bakery and grocery items. Retired for good, Irene and Al moved to Oro Valley in 1999. They spent eight great years together making friends in their Oro Valley neighborhood and the Saint Marks Catholic Church community. After 66 years of marriage, Irene was widowed in 2007. She continued living in Oro Valley until 2015 when she moved to Colbert, WA and lived with her son and daughter-in-law. Irene is survived by son David Lisaius (Marty) of Colbert WA, daughter Diane Saunders (Michael) of Oro Valley, and Dennis Lisaius of Santa Monica. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Ken Lisaius (Jennifer), Som Lisaius (Krystin), and Rob Lisaius and proudly claimed and cherished four great grand kids. Visitation for Irene will be held 4 m to 6 pm, Thursday, March 8 at Adair Funeral Home, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. Oro Valley, AZ 85704. A funeral mass will be held at 10 am, Friday, March 9 at St. Mark Catholic Church, 2727 W. Tangerine Rd. Oro Valley, AZ 85742 with a luncheon to follow. Burial is scheduled for 12 pm, Monday, March 12 at Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 1300 S. Buffalo Soldier Trail, Sierra Vista, AZ 85635. There, she will be laid to rest with her beloved Al. Donations may be made in her memory to St Mark Catholic Church which she dearly loved or Hospice of Spokane, P O Box 2215, Spokane WA 99210 where she was treated with such dignity and kindness.
