My sympathy to Gisela's family. As I read her obituary I realized I barely knew her. Yes, I volunteered with her on the Mission to the Children board. I smile because we asked her many times to become a board member and she always said no. Just last year we finally convinced her that being an "official" board member would more often than not ensure we had a quorum. Only for that reason did she agree. Her faithful service to the mission never wavered and she had attended board meetings for all the years she served. I will miss her. Yes, we both went to the same Bible study on Wednesday mornings at Grace. She was dedicated to learning more about our Savior and how everything truly works for the good of us who love Him. Her life of service shows all of us how to become more like Christ and carry out His great commission to tell the world about the Good News! Yes, we shared a love for learning more about the mission field as members of the Lutheran Women's Missionary Society. What a privilege to be a part of those missions from afar and support them with prayer and contributions to help them continue to serve abroad and here at home. And the fellowship among our sisters in Christ from Arizona, New Mexico, and El Paso Texas at rallys and retreats fed our souls. I think Gisela knew everyone! and made it a point to touch as many lives as possible during that time we had together. Her infectious smile made everyone around her smile, too. I now see that I saw such a small part of her service to our Lord. And now God said to her "well done my good and faithful servant" when she left this world and joined Him in our eternal home. I will miss her, but I also celebrate her victory over death as I await the time we will be together again for eternity with all believers. May the outpouring of love of all those she touched comfort her family and friends.
