Obituary of Rudolf Carl Schultz
Rudolf Carl Schultz, family man, outdoorsman, foodie, collector of witty t-shirts and accomplished traveler, died February 11, 2018.
Rudy hunted, fished and camped with his buddies from the time he was a kid well into his golden years. He knew every canyon, hillside and grassland in every nook and cranny in Arizona. His love of the desert started as a boy in summer camp and never quit.
Rudy could find his way through Tucson's streets to any neighborhood, address or lunch buffet because he was a native Tucsonan who spent over 30 years driving to house calls as a Sears Service Repairman. He showed his love by fixing that thing of yours that was broken. He installed a new washing machine for a loved one only a month ago, at the age of 80.
As a devoted husband and dad, Rudy was married to Joella Mary Schultz for 37 love-filled years and was a father to Julie Schultz Parizek (Tucson), Deborah White (Hattiesburg, MS), John Stewart (Grandbury, TX) and Penny Hoffman (Flagstaff). Rudy is survived by his wife and children, as well as his sister, Emily Marshall (Los Angeles, CA). Rudy and Joella made a beautiful team as true partners in life. Their tight-knit family includes 12 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Rudy and Joella traveled to Europe, Alaska, and nearly every state in the U.S. They trekked to Montana to see the full solar eclipse of 2017. Their epic road trips were routed to maximize visits with family and friends.
Rudy was a good man who did so many good things for so many people. We will miss him dearly.
A memorial service will be held at Adair Funeral Homes, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave., at 1 p.m., Sunday, February 18. A light reception will follow.
