Obituary of Sanders Solot

SOLOT, Sanders "Sonny" 11/10/1926 - 2/5/2018 Sanders "Sonny" Solot, a legend in the real estate appraisal business who taught and mentored most of southern Arizona´s appraisers, died at Handmaker on February 5, 2018 at age 91. A vibrant member of the community and an avid clarinet player, he was one of the founders of the Desert Aires, a clarinet choir, and toured Arizona, Australia and New Zealand with the Tucson Concert Band. The native-born Tucsonan began his real estate career at age 16, when he first got his real estate license and began working with his father, Ben H. Solot. He served in the United States Navy during WWII. He later taught at Pima College and the University of Arizona. He served as President of Jewish Family and Children´s Services, was a member of the Rotary Club and served on the Arizona State Board of Appraisal. He is survived by his wife, Ruth-Jean Solot; his two children, Steven and Ellen; his grandchildren, Ilan, André and Liana; his great-grandchildren, Luka and Kaio; his nephews, Michael and Alan; his great-nephews, Stuart and Alex; and his great-great-nephew, Liam. Mr. Solot´s wealth of information garnered throughout his years as an appraiser in Arizona and his interesting stories endeared him to his many students and colleagues. He was a veritable living archive of oral history. He will be sorely missed. A Service will be held at Temple Emanuel on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. followed by a ceremony at Evergreen Cemetery, 3015 N. Oracle Rd (south entrance). Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES.
