Obituary of John F. Kofron
KOFRON, John F. passed away December 31, 2017, at home with his wife Beverly at his side, five days before his 99th birthday, witty and graceful to the end. John was well known in Tucson cultural circles for his long time close involvement over three decades with the Tucson Symphony Orchestra's Board. A graduate of Oberlin College and Harvard Business School, John presided over a variety of successful businesses, including a commercial dairy in Cleveland, Ohio, the Kaibab Shop in Tucson, and an art gallery in Santa Fe. John involved himself with active community service, not only the TSO, but also, a Tucson promotional speakers' bureau, and Karamu House, one of the earliest racially integrated theatrical groups in Cleveland. John pursued numerous interests with enthusiasm, including mountain hiking, tennis, travel, great literature, the TSO, and the history, art and culture of the arid west. Maynard Dixon's poem "At last I shall give myself to the desert again", well expresses his deep love of the desert. John lives on in spirit with his best friend of 33 years Beverly Kofron, Beverly's children, Dawn Morgan, Michelle Morgan, Frank Morgan (Kris) and their families, and John's; children, John Kofron (Judy) , Alice Muehle (Gerhard), Tom Kofron (Maureen Mullin), Emily Kofron, Ann Kreutz (Kris) and their families. Memorials in John's name may be made to the Tucson Symphony Orchestra, 2175 N. 6th Ave, Tucson, AZ 85705. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Avalon Chapel.
