Obituary of James Laverne Oppenheimer
James "Jim" Laverne Oppenheimer left us on October 6, 2017 to join Sydney Jean, his beloved bride of 62 years, and their Lord Jesus.
Jim was born in Fort Madison, Iowa, on October 9, 1932 and he came to Tucson to attend the University of Arizona. Jim was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He spent his entire career in the life insurance business, having a passion for helping others protect their families and plan for their futures. He had a heart for those less fortunate and dedicated 50 years to Optimist International as a founding member of both the Rincon and Oro Valley clubs. Jim is survived by daughters, Christine Helin (R. Stan) and Karen VanderWall (William); sons, David Oppenheimer (Stacy) and J. Bruce Oppenheimer; 13 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Jim will forever be in our hearts and be remembered as a man who loved his Lord, his family, and a good round of golf with a friend. He always took one day at a time, always trusted God, and encouraged us all to do the same.
Memorial Service will be held Friday, November 10, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. at Adair Funeral Homes, Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. In lieu of flowers please contribute to Oro Valley Optimus Club, P.
