Obituary of William Albert Duryee
William Albert Duryee passed away peacefully with his wife and daughters at his side on September 19, 2017, after a long battle with prostate/bone cancer. Born on February 14, 1943 in Washington, DC, to Albert "Bill" and Dorothy Duryee, Bill grew up in Arlington, VA, and spent much of his life on the Chesapeake Bay. He graduated from Bishop O'Connell High School and LaSalle University in Philadelphia with a degree in Business Administration. He was a star athlete, earning Hall of Fame status in Track and Football at O'Connell and in Track at LaSalle. Bill stills holds a record for the 440 (47.8) on a cinder track.
Bill dedicated over 30 years to the Central Intelligence Agency, retiring as a Senior Financial Manager and received several awards, including the Career Intelligence Medal. During his career, he had several overseas posts, and continued to explore the world with family and friends after retirement.
With his wife, Patricia Gayle Farley, he built a beautiful home in McLean, VA, and wintered in Tucson, AZ, near his children. Bill loved cruising, was an avid fisherman, and loved being outdoors and near the water. He had an adventurous spirit, enjoyed scuba diving, country western dancing and even tap dancing. He will be remembered as a great husband, father, grandfather (affectionately known as "Pop"), and brother who was full of energy and could build and fix almost anything. He had a great sense of humor, was friendly to everyone he met, and made the best milkshakes.
Bill leaves behind his wife of 37 years, Patricia; his daughters Carin and Cadre (Chris Sahlin); two grandsons Logan and Ocean; a sister Nancy DeJerf, as well as many other family members and friends.
