Obituary of Maxine Joyce McKee

MCKEE, Maxine Joyce Born December 10, 1936 to Marie Hutton and William Louwsma in Pella, Iowa, and passed away peacefully in the presence of her daughters September 17, 2017. She was preceded in death by her son, Steven Jones. She is survived by her husband, Roger; daughters, Susan Kalota (Ted) and Julie Jones and her daughter-in- law, Alicia Jones (Bill); her four grandchildren, Dustin, Eric, Tyler and Zach; six great- grandchildren, her stepchildren, Roger McKee (Susie) and Mindy Larson (Mike) and their children. Maxine was born and raised in Iowa. She was born on the farm, with many early memories of learning to drive the tractor, detasseling the corn in the hot summer, milking the cows and collecting the chicken eggs- which sometimes had unexpected consequences like having an egg fall on her head just before she was to go out on a date. She played Basketball for the New Sharon women's Basketball team which even went to the State finals. She married Frank Jones in 1956 and moved to Southern California in 1958. She learned about Poison Oak the hard way, learned to love the Beach and the Dodgers, and later various Football teams. She was an avid Bridge player, an active church member, a meticulous housekeeper and a wonderful hostess. She married Roger McKee in 1981. They moved to multiple locations over the years, including Dallas, Boise, Silicone Valley and even a year in Amsterdam, finally ending up in Tucson in 2003. She loved her friends and made many along the way. She always had time to listen to problems, rejoice over accomplishments, enjoy her grandkids and always made the holidays special. Her family was able to be with her at the time of her passing and will remember the special times together forever.
