Obituary of Daryl Ann Spackeen

SPACKEEN, Daryl Ann (Mailloux) Born May 31, 1935 to William J. Mailloux and Dorothy Wheaton, Daryl passed peacefully on August 28, 2017 after family gathered to share their stories, love and good-byes. After a spectacular Tucson sunrise, "Nanna" went to be with her Lord and rejoin Bob, her beloved husband of 50 years. Born in Chicago, Daryl moved to Tucson as a young girl and attended Tucson High. She pledged Kappa Kappa Gamma and attained a B.A. (Education) at University of Arizona. Settling with Bob in Flagstaff, she earned her M.Ed (Special Education) from NAU, taught school and sold real estate while raising four raucous sons. After retiring in Tucson with Bob, Daryl enjoyed a rich life full of family activities, philanthropy and volunteerism, travelling with friends, and their casa in Mexico. A lifelong fanatic Wildcat, Daryl served as President of the UA Alumni Association and served on many advisory and leadership boards. On game days Daryl was watching, screaming the loudest, and brimming with Wildcat Pride! Survivors include: Steve (Laura Jelinek), Scott (Danna Martin), Stan (Donna Seader) and Skip, as well as nine grandchildren and eight greats. "Nanna" was much loved and will be greatly missed by all. A Rosary will be prayed at 1:30 p.m. with a Memorial Mass starting at 2:00 on Friday, September 29, 2017 at Corpus Cristi Parish. Per Daryl's request, a (Tacos and Margs) reception will be held following the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Daryl's long-time charity, Assistance League of Tucson. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.
