Obituary of Donald J. Coorsen
COORSEN, Donald J. 3/23/1930 - 4/21/2017 Friends and family remember Donald J. Coorsen, who died peacefully at Banner UMC Hospital in Tucson, Arizona. Don and his wife, Phyllis Coorsen, enjoyed 63 years in a loving marriage before she predeceased him in 2015. Originally from Milwaukee, WI, Donald cared for his mother there as a young adult. Don worked as a linemen for the Miller Coors Brewing Co. before retiring in 1988. In 1992, Donald and Phyllis moved to Tucson, AZ, where they purchased a home on Limberlost Rd. There, they appreciated the company of their neighbors for many years. Don took delight in his life of retirement by traveling, golfing, and spending time with his wife. As an avid golfer, Don enjoyed an opportunity to golf with Arnold Palmer, and he liked to boast about the time he hit a "hole in one." After Phyllis died, Donald moved to Sunrise at River Road Senior Living, where he made many friends who knew him as Dominick. In 2016, at 86, he proudly became the oldest person to complete the 3 mile Alzheimer's Association Walk. Donald was survived by his brother, Frank, 89 who also passed soon after Don. Don is survived by his nephew, Robert of Littleton, CO, and his sister-in-law, Kaye Geiss, of Milwaukee, WI. Please join Don's surviving family and friends in remembering Don with fondness.
