Obituary of Margery R. King

KING, Margery R. Marge passed away peacefully on April 23, 2017 surrounded by her family. She was born July 7, 1923 in Putnam, Conn. She is survived by her children, Gregory (Kathy) King, Father Jeffrey King, Sharon (Kevin) Knorr and Janice (Kevin) Deardorff; two beloved granddaughters, Michelle (Mario) Torres, Sarah (Mason) Berg and great- grandson, Mateo Torres. She was preceded in death by her father, Henry Clyde Van Valkenburgh and her mother, Irene (Meyer) Van Valkenburgh and also her brother, Richard Van Valkenburgh and her beloved husband, William H. King. Marge was a nurse in the Navy during WWll. She continued working part-time as a nurse while being a devoted wife and mother to her family. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge and other board games. She loved walking, swimming and especially playing tennis. During the summers Marge loved vacationing at her cabin on Crystal Lake in New Hampshire. Bill and Marge purchased the cabin during their retirement years and spent many happy years there. To the very end Marge lived life to the fullest with her family and the many friends she made at Villa Hermosa and elsewhere. Her son Fr. Jeff King will celebrate the Mass of resurrection at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1800 N. Camino Pio Decimo, Tucson, AZ on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 11:00 a.m., preceded by a Rosary at 10:30 a.m. A military burial will be held at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 1300 Buffalo Soldier Trail, Sierra Vista, AZ on Monday, May 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Flowers may be sent to St. Pius X Catholic Church.
