A few memories from family and friends:
• Her spunk, wittiness, love for reading, and her Rosary & Prayer books.
• Her gift of sketching, designing and sewing her garments when she was in High School; and her flare for
dancing
• Her countless hours with us at the Kearny pool ; which was across the street from our house
• Mom and I walking my brother to Kindergarten every day when we lived in Kearny
• The frog I let go in the kitchen, I was probably 5; It hopped behind the refrigerator and my mom made me sit in front of the refrigerator with a glass of water trying to capture the frog, it felt like I was there for hours, each time mom and I spoke of the story she reminded me was only there 10 minutes- never found the frog
• Mom sewing-two of my favorite; my pink Chiffon dress for my 8th grade Valentines dance-it was perfect! And my 16 inch bell bottom pants.
• Mom's beautiful dear leap dance movements (from her dancing days at the UA) she did across our living room.
• Mom and Dad dancing in the living room especially during Christmas time to fast jitterbug music.
• Mom letting my best friend spend the night, the entire summer.
• The day my brother and I received our driver's permits, she let us drive her around from the day forward.
• Finding out mom drove from Oracle to work at the UA in the left hand lane the entire way; and no she was not driving fast.
• Her homemade recipes for Feather-bed Potato Rolls, pizza, enchiladas, popcorn balls and hot dogs with Red Devil Hot Sauce in a tortilla.
• Weekend Dollar Store trips where she said :"give me 10 minutes" and an hour later I am still in the car waiting patiently for her.
• Free neighborhood watch that her neighbors loved her for.
• This is a quote from her Cousin Barbara's tribute, "Thank you for your kindness and love Baby Mitzi. Thank you for herding your little rug rat cousins like mountain goats in Jerome and surrounding hills. I Love You and will miss you"
The tribute is from our daughter, Nichole, on behalf of the grandchildren. As you grow, I think it's important knowing that you have grandparents that love you. With my Little Grandma, I felt and knew that she loved all her grand-kids. She always made sure we knew she was thinking of us by sending cards and always saving her National Geographic Magazines for us to read. Every time I saw her, the first and last words that came out of her mouth was "I Love You." The greatest gifts she gave me were memories of her that I will always cherish. In looking back on these memories, I've realized some important things that I've always admired about her and how I will always remember her:
• Her ability to eat a gallon of chocolate ice cream in a week's time.
• How excited she got when my Mom brought her home cooked meals. I can still seer her smile and hear her hands clapping with excitement.
• How she always wanted to hear about our adventures and see our pictures.
• Telling us we served her too much food and then she ends up eating the whole plate.
• Her ability to zone in on good gossip.
• Knowing her favorite cuss word was "son of a bitch".
• How thoughtful and kind she was.
• Setting up her Christmas decorations together every year and listening to Christmas music on the TV.
• Her love for crime-mystery novels.
Thank you, Little Grandma: for all that you have done for us. This isn't good-bye, it's until we meet again. I Love You.
