Obituary of Richard Esteban Flores
FLORES, Richard Esteban died peacefully at the age of 53 on February 24, 2017 after a four year valiant fight of Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumor, GIST Cancer. Richard was born in Tucson, Arizona. His early years were spent in Nogales, Arizona where he attended AJ Mitchell Elementary School and later the family moved to Globe, Arizona where he attended Holy Angels Catholic School. He later returned to Tucson, Arizona, where he graduated from Salpointe Catholic High School in 1981. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science from the University of Arizona on August 11, 1993. He had extraordinary expertise in retail sales including jewelry, funeral services, and insurance. He had a natural ability for sales as an entrepreneur. Richard and his wife would take many trips to Greer, Arizona and go boulder hunting - finding new boulders for their home that were "fine specimens" to add to their landscape. Richard spent many excursions to Apache or Patagonia lake boating, enjoying the beauty of the still waters, canyons and serenity of the surroundings and would include friends to join him at a moments notice. Richard had a natural desire to help others. His infectious smile and his ability to engage others by always having a genuine interest in the people he met, created lasting relationships. He intuitively was able to reach out and guide a pathway of encouragement to all he touched. He was an inspiration to his family and friends. His courage throughout his journey, forever changing the lives of the people he touched. Even during his darkest days fighting for his life, he always asked the people around him, if they were okay. Richard had a passion for the Word. He had a magnificent drive to learn, understand, and share the Bible with all who crossed paths with him. He was an avid participant of the Sunday/Monday night bible studies and would often share his learned knowledge of the bible with all others at church. He is survived by his wife, Lisa Davis-Flores of Tucson; their loving puppy at heart Sasha; parents, Richard and Irma Flores of Tucson; sister, Terri (Arlen) Flores-Brown of Colorado Springs, Colorado; sister, Norma (Martin) Camacho of Tucson; brother, Frank (Edgar Huerta) Flores of Tucson; nieces and nephews, Samantha Shafer, Shelby Shafer, Jared Shafer, Celina Provencio, Juliana Provencio and Dominic Camacho; parents-in-law, James (Gladys) Davis of Tucson; sister-in-law, Melanie Davis of Mt Rainier, Maryland; and a host of uncles, aunts and cousins. Funeral Service, 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at Calvary Tucson East, 8711 East Speedway Boulevard. Interment, Holy Hope Cemetery, 3555 North Oracle Road. He fought the good fight. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Avalon Chapel.
