Obituary of Alice Marie Koob

KOOB, Alice Marie 63, of Tucson, passed away on February 14, 2017 at her home in Tucson, AZ, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on February 5, 1954 to August and Lucy (Pohle) Nelson in Hackensack, NJ, and moved to San Manuel, AZ at the age of five, where she had so many happy memories. She is now having her reunion with her parents, who preceded her in death. She graduated high school in 1972, at Immaculate Heart HS in Tucson, AZ, and remains friends with many classmates she met there. She married Robert "Bob" Peter Koob on April 5, 1975, and during their 41 years of marriage created a loving home where everyone felt welcomed. They have three beautiful children, Jennifer (Jarret) L'Abbe, Jason (Amy) Koob, and Jeffrey Koob; along with three grandchildren, Kylie (14) and Joshua (10) L'Abbe, and Olivia (20 months) Koob, with a brother or sister to Olivia expected soon. Although mostly residing in AZ, she and her husband resided in Brawley, CA a short time in the 1980's, before they permanently returned to Tucson, in 1986. They created a beautiful resort like home and backyard, and became the hub for many spectacular BBQ's, swimming parties, holiday events, and family reunions. She was always the event planner for these wonderful occasions, and gave her many family and friends wonderful memories. Alice worked as a certified tax preparer, and began her own business, Alice Koob Tax Service, in 2007. She not only served many clients, but became friends with so many of them. Alice is also survived by a very large family of eight siblings, Donald (Winnie) Nelson, Clara (Ron) Bryan, Lawrence (Joanne) Nelson, Robert (Anna) Nelson, Thomas (Mary) Nelson, James (Jill) Nelson, and Mary Anne Nelson. She also dearly adored and provided a fun loving home to all her nieces and nephews. Her family feels such a profound loss for Alice's huge heart and generous spirit. During the long months of her illness many discussions were held, with the belief that she will still be our gathering place for celebrations in our after, eternal lives. We know she is already making heaven brighter and definitely providing much laughter with her humor and quick wit that we already sorely miss. Visitation will be held Monday, February 20, 2017, 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. (Rosary 7:00 p.m.) at Adair Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. Oro Valley, AZ. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, 11:00 a.m. at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Tucson, AZ, with Fr. Singh officiating.
