Obituary of Ivan H. Fowler
FOWLER, Ivan H., Jr. went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 23, 2017. Born to Ivan H. Fowler and Ada L. (Bean) Fowler on July 10, 1928, in Ashtabula, OH, he was the third of four children, Ellen, Marjorie and Joyce. The family moved to Arizona in 1936, where they finally settled in Tucson. Ivan graduated from Tucson High in 1946 and enlisted in the Air Force. He retired as a Chief-Master Sergeant in 1968, serving in the Korean and Vietnam Wars and then embarked on a new career as a repairman. He went back to school while working full-time and graduated from the University of Arizona (Go Cats!) with a BS and MS and became a science teacher. He taught at various schools throughout TUSD, retiring from Sahuaro High in 1993. While stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base he re-met the love of his life, Katherine Inez Glenn, who he married in 1950. Ivan and Katherine have four children, Linda (Gary), Karen, Jeff (Isabel) and Sandy. They have four grandchildren (Anna, Jonathan, Josh and Sarah), one great-grandchild and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In 1996, Ivan and Katherine fulfilled a lifelong dream of building a home in the pines at Forest Lakes, AZ, where they spent their summers. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and godly example to many. Many people say he is the nicest man they ever met. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tucson Gospel Rescue Mission. Memorial Service to be held Friday, January 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at El Camino Baptist Church. Arrangements entrusted to ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel.
