Obituary of Virginia R. Iannaccone

IANNACCONE, Virginia "Ginny" R. passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 25, 2016 in Tucson, Arizona. She was 94 years old. She was born on November 2, 1922, to Alnah and Clarence Wellman in Perry, New York. She grew up on the family farm with her sister, Ethel and cousins, Harvey and Donald Wellman. After graduating from Perry High School, she attended Cornell University on a work- study scholarship. In 1944, she graduated with a bachelor's degree in history and social studies. After graduation, she moved to Rochester, New York, to live with her sister and work at the American Red Cross. Through a co-worker Joe Iannaccone, she met World War II veteran Tom Iannaccone, who would become her husband for 64 happy years. Among Ginny's greatest joys were playing bridge, bowling, going to the theater, and growing flowers. Following a career as a library assistant with Brighton Middle School, she served as office manager for Original Performances, Inc., when Tom launched that enterprise in the 1970s. Later, she lent her support to Gates Music, Inc., the management company for Grammy Award-winning musician Chuck Mangione. She was an accomplished hostess at family and business events alike, readily befriending all those she met. She and Tom retired to Tucson over 30 years ago where they became members and active supporters of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. She is survived by daughter, Judith and her spouse, Jami Josifek; son, James; her niece, Bonnie DiNoto and her husband, Fred DiNoto. Ginny's zest for life, warm and gentle spirit, courage, and thoughtfulness will be missed by everyone who knew her. A private memorial will be held at a later date.
