Obituary of Elwood F. Beehler
BEEHLER, Elwood F. Elwood "Woody" Fulmer Beehler passed on January 11, 2017. He was born in Mishawaka, Indiana, on March 23, 1930. He is survived by his wife, June after 65 1/2 years of marriage. He is also survived by two sons, Michael (Dianne) in Leawood, Kansas and Mark (Anita) in Gilbert, Arizona. He had six grandchildren, Michael's four children, David Michael, Danielle Marie, Stephen Michael, Catherine Marie, and Mark's two daughters, Adah Frances Beehler and Myah Lita Mosesman. He had three great-grandchildren, Torrin Skye Beehler (died at birth), David Michael Beehler II, and Valyn Ariel Beehler. His parents, Marcus and Adah Beehler and his sister, Wanda (Earl) Kime predeceased him. Elwood graduated from Mishawaka High School, earned his BS from Ball State, spent two years as an officer in the United States Air Force and 16 years in the Reserves and Air National Guard. He received his Masters in Guidance and Counseling from Indiana University and had 60 additional graduate hours at University of Arizona and other colleges. He taught elementary school in Berrien Springs, Michigan and Elkhart, Indiana. When the family moved to Tucson in 1961, he taught junior high math and science at Fickett Junior High. He served as head of the guidance and counseling department at Sahuaro High School for 20 years. He was in education for a total of 34 years. Memorial Service will be Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 4:00 p.m., followed by a light reception at Desert Skies United Methodist Church at 3255 N. Houghton Road.
