Obituary of Blake Mitchell Beeston

BEESTON, Blake Mitchell Landed on Earth in 1982. Launched to another adventure on Christmas Day December 25, 2016 after completing his cosmic Earth assignment. His 34 years with us were filled with enormous love, healing, laughter, learning, mysticism and so much more. Blake exhibited all the quintessential Fire element attributes from an early age: unbridled creativity, passion, excitement, animation, enthusiasm, exuberance, charm and curiosity. He was absolutely fearless as a cosmic Spirit explorer ravenous for more and more knowledge, which he found in alchemy, botany, all things Asian, martial arts, the fire arts, crystals, internal geometrics, Qi mastery and many other healing modalities. His friends called him a "human encyclopedia" and he was. Whatever interested him, he mastered down to the fractional millimeter and, if you let him (or even if you did not), he would give you a richly detailed and colorful verbal tour of the subject. Blake had an exquisite appreciation of beauty in everything, which provided the Fireseed for his extraordinary and insightful writings-truly poetry in motion. One of his mother's greatest joys was to open an email (which occurred with some frequency) containing a beautiful picture accompanied by a 'Blake missive' replete with expressions of gratitude and love. He was irreverent and unconventional (he once threatened to title his memoirs "Death Threats from Santa Claus"), sage, wickedly funny and possessed a brilliant mind gifted with problem solving abilities easily integrating information from multiple sources into a coherent big picture. Blake embraced life with wide open arms. He was loving, kind, compassionate, open Hearted and generous. He was also really brave. He fully embraced the examined life and had that rare capacity to poke fun at own faults, which he regularly did. Inevitably both he and you would dissolve in laughter and for that moment, at least, those darn faults (along with your own) would shrink to their rightful size. As he would say "Being loudly okay is better than being quietly messed up". Blake's creativity flourished in the liberating atmosphere of Kino School which he attended from second grade, graduating with the class of 2000. Following his many passions, he pursued his healing vocation at the Desert Institute of Healing Arts and graduated as a Shiatsu Practitioner in 2001 which he practiced for six years before attending the Arizona School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, graduating in 2010, L.Ac, M.Ac.OM,Dipl.OM. He was especially proud of his Diplomate accreditation. It is the most advanced level of national certification and signifies passage of board exams for both acupuncture and herbs as well as the integrative pharmacology/pharmacognancy board. He also studied adjunct oncology. With this constellation of skills, talents and insight, Blake opened an acupuncture and Chinese Herbs practice at his Neo-Traditional Medicine office at the Steinfeld Mansion, during which time he helped many folks heal both body and soul. From his early grounding in the martial arts and exploration of Buddhist and Taoist ideas, Blake grasped at a deeply internal level that the science and art of movement and medicine are interconnected in a fundamental way. Conjoining this knowledge with his Heart, he pushed the known boundaries of healing methodology, producing some truly phenomenal results. Our self-described "witch doctor" will be (and is now) sorely missed! Preceded in death by his paternal uncle, Tom Beeston; his paternal grandparents, William Howard Beeston and Elisabeth Beeston; and his maternal grandparents, Robert McCarthy and Terry McCarthy. Survived by his parents, Frederick Mitchell Beeston and Kathleen McCarthy (aka, "the Mama"); paternal aunt, Susan Beeston Weiland (Erick); maternal aunt, Judy Patrick (Bob); maternal uncle, Robert McCarthy; paternal aunt, Margot Beeston (Tom Beeston, deceased); soul sister, Dee Wasson; his squadron of "second Mamas", including Dawn Steffen, Irene Fernandez, Freda Blake and so many more (you know who you are!), his loyal canine companion, Pyg; his many teachers and healers on his path, and his incredible, AMAZING Tribe of loving friends, many of whom considered Blake a best friend and he vice-versa. Blake had a way of making you KNOW that you were truly Special. Blake was a truly authentic and Heart centered human being, who was on fire in his determination to explore the cosmos and all of its WISDOM, KNOWLEDGE and LOVE. Blake, thank you for always being yourself and allowing those around you to do the same. "Your five dimensional self awaits you in the light"! A "Blake Acknowledgment Gathering" event will soon be announced at memorialwebsites.legacy.com/blake-beeston and on his Facebook page. Posts on both sites are most welcome. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Words of Peace (wopg.org). Our planet needs peace more than ever. Blake knew that at a profoundly urgent level.
