Obituary of Raymond F. Cacciatore

Raymond F. Cacciatore passed away peacefully into the loving arms of his savior on December 21, 2016, the day of the Winter Solstice. He is survived by his devoted wife, Josephine (Jo) Cacciatore. They've known each other their entire lives—he was the boy next door. They've been married for 69 years. He is also survived by his four children, Steve (Cathy) Cacciatore, Jerry (Amy) Cacciatore, Marianna Cacciatore, and Theresa (Pat) Petrillo. Ray and Jo have seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two on the way. Ray was born in Rockford, Illinois. He was a Sargent with the US Army Air Corps, serving in Europe during WW 2 as an Aircraft Mechanic, working tirelessly to keep our combat planes in good condition. After the war, he became a Mechanical Engineer in the machine-tool industry—a role he maintained for his entire career. For the final 10 years of his working life, he had his own business as a machine-tool designer. In his retirement, Ray and Jo moved to Tucson, AZ. Golf was his lifelong sport and, for many years, they lived at Tucson National Golf Resort, giving him the opportunity to play to his hearts content. He also enjoyed oil painting and gardening. There will be a funeral Mass to honor his life on Wednesday, Dec. 28 at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 8650 N. Shannon Road, Tucson, AZ. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to Tu Nidito. The grief support program there, called Children to Children, was founded by his daughter Marianna. Tu Nidito's address is 3922 N. Mountain Ave., Tucson, AZ 85719. Or a donation could be made to Casa de la Luz Hospice. The staff at Casa cared for Ray in the most lovely way in the final months of his life. Their address is 7740 N. Oracle Rd. Tucson, AZ 85704.
