Obituary of Doris Jean Armstrong
Doris Jean Armstrong passed away on December 7 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers, one day before her 84th birthday. She left this world 20 years to the day our father (Earl Sr.) passed. They are finally together once more.
Mom was born December 8, 1932 in Fairmont, West Virginia. The daughter of a coal miner, mom grew up the oldest of four. She had three younger brothers in beautiful West Virginia. She married John Guido and they had a daughter Cassondra (Warren Bailey). She left West Virginia with Cassi in 1957 to be with her parents in Tucson, where they had retired. Working at the Pioneer Hotel, she met Earl, the dashing catering manager, and married in 1961 after a UA football game. How romantic. Dad's hotel career took them to Scottsdale, Washington, D.C., Chicago (where Earl Jr. was born) and back to Arizona (where Lisa was born), Denver, Miami, back to Tucson, Oklahoma City, Florida and finally back home to the Old Pueblo.
Her unique wit, grace and charm will never be forgotten, and lives in all of her children and grandchildren. What a lucky world. Mom is survived by her 3 children, Cassondra Ellen Bailey (Warren), Earl F., Jr., and Lisa Annell Jamison (Paul). Her 2 grandchildren Tonia Graves (Jeff) and Orion Grant as well as two great-grandchildren Isabella and Emma.
A memorial service will be celebrated on Thursday, December 15 from 2pm-4pm at Adair Funeral Home Avalon Chapel 8090 N. Northern, Tucson, AZ 85704
