Obituary of Eugene Jerome Arneson

Arneson, Eugene Jerome, died in Tucson at the age of 96. Gene was born in Roland, Iowa on January 20, 1920 to Burt and Bella Arneson. He was a veteran of the US Army Air Corps during World War II. He was especially pleased to be included in an Honor Flight to Washington D. C. Preceded in death by his wife, Arlene Arneson and his former spouse, Eileen Arneson, his parents, 2 sisters and 2 brothers. He is survived by his four children, daughter, Ann Valesh, and his three sons, Mark Arneson, Jim Arneson, and Tom Arneson. Also by his special friend, Geraldine (Geri) Thompsen; one sister-in-law, Delores Arneson, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Gene enjoyed music and especially the music performances at Risen Savior Lutheran Church in Green Valley, AZ. Gene was an excellent mechanic. He could fix just about anything and enjoyed finding out how things worked. He enjoyed travels in his motor home with Arlene and spent a summer traveling in Alaska. Gene was proud to be a Mason. He was a member of Norwegians Worldwide -Tucson Chapter. Gene worked with Cities Services and James Harriott Oil Company in Iowa City, Iowa until health issues necessitated a move to a warmer climate in 1958. He retired from Davis-Monthan AFB with the Civil Service. A memorial service for Gene will be Monday, January 23 at 1 PM at Risen Savior Lutheran Church, 555 S. La Canada, Green Valley, AZ. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Jewell, Iowa at a later date.
