Obituary of David S English

David S English died October 22, 2016 following several years of declining health. David was born January 3, 1941 in Grants Pass, Oregon to the late Paul and Nelle Heald English. Raised on a homestead near Oregon's Rogue River, David developed a love of nature which never waned. After a stint in the US Navy, he graduated from Grand Canyon College and began his career in education. He served as teacher, counselor and coach in the San Simon, Ajo and Florence Public School Districts. In 1981, David moved to Tucson to assist in the establishment of First Southern Christian School where he served as administrator for 25 years. After retirement, he enjoyed his hobbies of writing, wood-working, hiking, hunting, fishing, cycling and summers in the White Mountains. David expressed his Christian faith by Bible teaching, choir and service to others. David is survived by his wife, Brenda Joy; daughter Rene (Dr. Michael) Hayes; grandchildren Katy, Mickey, Lauren and Daniel of Glendale, AZ; son Brian of Ketchikan, Alaska; siblings, Ralph, Winnie, Carol, Dwight, Jeanette and Jon; and many nieces and nephews. We are grateful for David's example of love and devotion to God, his family, students and friends.
