Obituary of Robert E Tims

TIMS, Robert E. passed away on September 14, 2016. Born in Bartlesville, OK on February 18, 1935 to Stan and Lucile Tims. He attended Thornton Academy, Saco, ME, and awarded its Athletic Hall of Fame. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy, and served in the Navy in submarines, the Polaris program and Technical Intelligence. He worked as aerospace engineering manager in the Apollo program at Kennedy Space Center. After leaving the space program, Bob owned a silversmith & lapidary business in Tucson. Bob served as President of Canaveral Gem & Mineral Society, Us Naval Academy Alumni in Cocoa Beach, FL, and PanAm Management Club, and first treasurer of USNA Alumni Assoc. of SO AZ. Bob married his high school sweetheart, Demetra (Mimi). Bob and Mimi danced in many national events, and on cruises. Bob is survived by his wife, Mimi; sons, Stan (Pam) of Austin, TX; Peter of Show Low, AZ; daughter, Diana Early (Cliff) of Pittsburgh, PA; granddaughter, Cassandra, and sister, Roberta Lane (Tom) of Georgia.
