Obituary of William Ellian Davidson
William (Bill) Davidson, Tucson Arizona, died unexpectedly on May 2, 2015. He was born in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Douglas and Helen Davidson, his parents, preceded him in death. He is survived by his sons William (Lisha), Tucson AZ., and Daniel, Nogales, AZ., sisters Margaret Schmidtke (Lyle), Farmington, MN., and Elizabeth Becker (Leo), Spokane, WA., as well as cousins, nieces and nephews, and his friend, former wife and mother of his sons Marilyn Davidson, Nogales AZ.
He graduated from Northfield High School in 1959,Northfield Minnesota .He then served in the US Naval Reserve, stationed in Minneapolis, Minnesota and was discharged in 1964. Most of his working years were with Federal Law Enforcement starting with the US Border Patrol in 1967 being stationed in Calexico, California; El Centro, California; International Falls, Minnesota; and Nogales, Arizona. He served on many Details and in 1973 was a deputized US Marshal when sent to Wounded Knee, SD during the uprising in which he took fire and was commended for his service. Later, he served as Immigration Special Agent then Senior Inspector at the Nogales Port of Entry, Nogales, AZ. He enjoyed a Detail to Scotland in the late 1980's.
He retired in 1992 then returned in 1997 as an instructor of Spanish ( in which he was very fluent) and Firearms ( also expert and awarded The Hole in One) at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Artesia, New Mexico until 2005 when he moved to Marfa Texas.
He enjoyed many activities in his life: photography, boating, traveling, camping, jewelry making, prospecting, fishing, and tinkering with clocks among many others.
He will be buried in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis Minnesota on August 31, 2016 at 10:00AM followed by a celebration of his life with family and friends after the services at THE AMERICAN LEGION POST#435 RICHFIELD, MN.
