Obituary of Betty Lou Matz
MATZ, Betty Lou Betty was born in Freeport, Illinois on December 2, 1929 to Frank and Myrtle Michel. She resided in Tucson since the Michel family moved here in 1930. Betty woke up in heaven early on Monday morning, April 18, 2016. She leaves behind her four children, Sharon Foltz, Hank (Teri Baffert), Mike (Miriam) and Peggie (Mike) Sherman; six grandchildren, Alyx (Jonnie) Rossetti, Austen (Holly) Sherman, Joe and Sam Matz, Georgia and Christina Matz; one great-grandchild, Olive Rossetti and brother, John Michel. Betty was preceded in death by Edward, her husband of 49 years. Betty took great pride and joy in being a wife, mother, grandmother, and recently, great- grandmother, all of which she excelled at. She spent most of her life as a home-maker and strong supporter of all her children's endeavors. Later in life she worked at Booth-Fickett Magnet school where she touched the lives of the students, faculty, and staff. Betty enjoyed attending and volunteering at Saint Francis Cabrini Catholic Church and her many neighborhood friends. Visitation (6:00 -7:30 p.m.) and Rosary (7:30 p.m.) will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. Mass will be at St. Francis Cabrini, 3201 E. Presidio Road 85716, on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to the Saint Vincent De Paul Society at Saint Francis Cabrini or Casa de la Luz Foundation.
