Obituary of Michael Joseph Doyle

DOYLE, Michael Joseph Esquire Born November 15, 1928 to Lucille (McNanney) and Mathew Doyle in Eveleth, Minnesota. He passed away peacefully on April 11, 2016 in Tucson, Arizona. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Heun Doyle, married August, 2007, his eight children, Patricia Doyle Corner, Matthew Doyle (Marcia), Michael Doyle (Dawn), Mary Anne Doyle (Robert Loos), Thomas Doyle (Renea), Molly Doyle St. Angelo (Gregory) Peter Doyle (Nancy), Robert Doyle; 21 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Virginia Britt Doyle (1930-2004), and one grandson, Michael Joseph Doyle, III (1988-1989). Mike earned a BS (1952) from the U of Minnesota Duluth and a JD (1958) from the U of Minnesota Law School. He worked for Cleveland Cliffs and Pickens Mather as a labor negotiator and then worked for Hanna Mining Company for over 25 years, retiring as Director of Environmental Affairs in 1987. He served on the boards of Brentwood Hospital and the Cleveland Clinic. From 1990 to 1997, he served as President of the Nevada Mining Association. He was a member of the Tucson Foothills Forum and a communicant at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Mike enjoyed spending summers at Ely Lake in Minnesota with his wife Virginia and family. In his later years, living in Arizona, he and his wife Helen enjoyed traveling the country to visit their children and grandchildren. His was a life well lived. He will be terribly missed by all who knew him. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 5150 N. Valley View Road, Tucson, AZ on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. reception following. A Service will be held in Aurora, OH on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help; time to be determined. In honor of his love for children and his dedication to family, memorial donations may be made, in his name, to the Southern District YMCA at 56 Linden Street, Exeter, NH 03833. Donations can be made via mail or on their website at www.sdymca.org to their annual support campaign, which will provide services to at-risk youth and support scholarships for youth programs.
