Obituary of Joan Irvine Bustetter

BUSTETTER, Joan Irvine A devoted wife. A loving mother. A wonderful mother-in-law, nurturing grandmother and a loyal friend to all. These are just a few ways to describe Joan Bustetter, an amazing woman who enriched the lives of those around her with her presence and personality. Joan passed away peacefully in Tucson, Arizona April 1, 2016 surrounded by her family. Born in Phoenix, Arizona to Lieutenant Colonel Edward Lewis Irvine and Margaret Loflin Irvine, on October 14, 1927. She attended the University of Arizona where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. During her time at U of A, she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. Joan was honored by fellow students at the University of Arizona, by being voted runner up for Homecoming Queen. After college, she moved to Los Angeles and worked at UCLA for the Atomic Energy Commission, as well as for UCLA's Dean of Medicine. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Aloysius John Bustetter, who passed away in April 2000. She is survived by her three children, John L. Bustetter, Susan B. Murphey, (Robert C. Murphey), Kimberly B. Slone, (James M. Slone) and her grandchildren, Kelley Slone, Ryann Slone, Jack Murphey and Kaela Murphey. Joan enjoyed tennis, bridge, art, and had a passion for painting, which she did whenever time allowed. Her Greatest Joy in Life was being a wife, raising her children, being a grandmother and having such an influential role in all of their lives. Joan blessed everyone who knew her with her kindness, generous spirit and her unconditional love! She truly was "Our Inspiration" and was and always will be our Queen "B". Joan's ashes will be interred at Greenwood Cemetery in Phoenix, AZ at a later late. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOME, Avalon Chapel
