Obituary of George Thomas Arkoosh
ARKOOSH, George Thomas 95, passed away peacefully on April 1, 2016 in Tucson, AZ. He was born and raised in Laramie, WY and went on to graduate from the University of Wyoming in 1942 with a BS in Mechanical Engineering. He served four years in the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII and was separated from the service as a Captain in 1946. George married his beloved wife, Patricia Syrianey in 1947 and moved to Seattle to begin a 40-year career with Boeing as a design engineer. His work included the hydraulic design for the 727, 747 and the AWACS program. He also helped design the first unmanned aircraft, the IUS rocket for NASA and the underground launcher for the MX missile. George and Patricia raised seven children: John (Gail), Joy (Victor) Huxtable, James (Debra), Mary (Dr. Stephen) Snow, Jeanne, George Robert (Suzanne) and Thomas. With the children grown and on their own, they decided to leave the NW rain behind and retire to sunny Arizona. As two of the earliest residents of Del Webb's Sun City Oro Valley community they spent their days golfing, playing bridge and discovering the beauty of the southwest. George and Patricia were members of Santa Catalina Catholic Church. They enjoyed 65 happy years of marriage and, after Patricia's passing in 2012, are now once more together in heaven. George is survived by his seven children, ten grandchildren, four great- grandchildren and his sister, Beverly Massey. On Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. there will be a Celebration of Life at Mountain View Retirement Village where George and Patricia enjoyed their last years together. Remembrances can be made to Casa de la Luz Hospice. Arrangements by ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Avalon Chapel.
