Obituary of Mary Theresa Messner

Our beloved mother, Mary Theresa (Walsh) Messner 85, a 22-year resident of Tucson, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2016 in Tucson, AZ. She was preceded in death by her late husband of 51 years, Martin E. Messner; parents, John and Mary Ann Walsh; brothers, Emmett and John Walsh; sisters, Rose Wilson, Kathryn Schommer and Rene Ohms. Mary is survived by her sister-in-law, Patricia Messner Purseglove (Charley); her sister-in-law, Donna Walsh; her five children, Barbara Messner, Marty Messner, Thomas Messner (Denise), Michael Messner (Shari) and Kathryn Messner Rivas and her grandchildren, Marty Chris Messner, Shawn Messner, Mary Glaser (Caleb), Martha Rivas, Sarah Rivas and Aaron Rivas and her great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Rivas and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Mary was born in Anaconda, Montana and graduated from Montana State with a Pharmacy degree. She enjoyed playing golf, bridge and Scrabble and cherished this time with family and friends. The family wants to extend a special thank you to the caregivers in Villa H at the Villas of La Canada in Tucson, AZ for their loving care of Mom. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her favorite charities, Habitat for Humanity or The Community Food Bank of So. Arizona. Memorial Mass Saturday, March 12, 2016 at 10:30 a.m., with refreshments to follow service, at St Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 5150 N. Valley View Rd, 85718.
