Obituary of Avonne Warner Bland
Avonne Warner Bland 92, passed away peacefully at home on February 23, 2016. She and her twin sister Janice were born on August 22, 1923 in Glendale, CA. She grew up in Belville, KS and moved to Tucson in 1936 where she attended Tucson High and met George, to whom she was married for 72 years. While George was overseas during the war, she worked for the S.P. Railroad. After the war they spent five years between Boston and Kansas City before returning to Tucson in 1952. While raising three children Avonne served as President of the Dental Auxiliary and as a board member of the Red Cross. She was also an active member of the Jr. League and the Assistance League. Avonne and George spent many wonderful years at their ranch in Sasabe, AZ and their seaside home in CA. Avonne was dedicated to her numerous friends, passionate about her love for the ocean and most proud of her adoring family. She is survived by her husband, George; sons, Steven (Jacqueline), Andy (Jill) and daughter, Sally Boice (Jim); seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. The Memorial Celebration will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 26, 2016 at ADAIR FUNERAL HOMES, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to TMC Hospice.
