Obituary of Elmo Oscar Longoni

ELMO LONGONI, 73, passed away on 2-17-16 after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loved ones including his son Chad, and his girlfriend, Sally Olivas and Lana Longoni. He is preceded in death by his parents, Adelio & Velia Longoni. Elmo was born in Providence, RI where he lived until moving to Tucson, Az in 1951. He finished grade school at SS Peter & Paul; he graduated from Salpointe in 1960 then worked for a time in his mother's flower shop and attended college, before serving in the Vietnam War. As a dedicated and proud Marine, he was awarded 4 medals during his service, returning home in 1969. He worked at Adams Tree Service for many years as a Landscaping Superintendant and later a Broker in Real Estate. Elmo will long be remembered for his enduring sense of humor, which never waivered. He was exceptionally kind-hearted and respectful, treating everyone with equality and compassion. Elmo had an easy-going demeanor, a quick smile and willingness to always lend a hand. His greatest joys were found in his deep LOVE for his Family and Friends! His sons, grandchildren, and "extended family" brought him endless happiness! He was a hard worker and a loyal and devout WILDCAT FAN!! A perfect day would be to spend time with family, eat at Olive Garden and watch the UofA Wildcats. Elmo is survived by his son Chad Longoni (Amanda); son Nicholas Longoni (Allyson); grandchildren Noah, Blake, Dominic and Lilliana; brothers Joseph and Robert (Vivian) Longoni; many nieces and nephews; girlfriend Sally Olivas and Lana Longoni. Visitation will be held at Adair Funeral Homes-Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. (742-7901) on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 5:00 - 8:00pm. Mass will be held at St. Odilia Catholic Church, 7570 Paseo Del Norte on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 11:00am with Fr. Frank Cady officiating. In lieu of flowers donations maybe be made to your favorite charity.
