Obituary of Ann I Hunten
I. Ann Hunten November 26, 1927 - November 15, 2015 Ann was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada to Mortimer Rubenstein and Hazel McCrudden in 1927. During her studies at McGill University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering Magna Cum Laude, she met her husband-to-be Donald Hunten who taught her in Chemistry lab. Once Ann graduated she unfortunately found that all jobs had been reserved for men returning from WWII, so never had the opportunity to use her degree. Once Don finished his PhD in Physics they moved to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan where they had two sons, Keith and Mark. The Hunten family moved to Tucson, AZ in 1963. Her husband later filed for divorce in the mid 1990's. Ann was a very social woman who loved to entertain and was well liked by all - even her sons' friends in school. One of the special things about Ann was her ability to make friends from all walks of life - many of which she stayed in touch with to the end. She also loved animals, particularly cats, of which she always had one or two. Her love for animals led her to support big cats in zoos as well. Ann loved sports cars, owning a Triumph TR4 kept in showroom shape for decades, then later a Toyota MR2, and she always dreamed of owning a Ferrari. She also loved to travel and was quite adventurous. She visited diverse places like Africa where she went on a safari and visited Egypt; visited many countries in Europe; and took cruises to Hawaii and Alaska. She loved playing tennis and was an expert bowler, keeping a 260+ average for many years. She competed often in bowling tournaments, especially in Las Vegas. She would also visit Las Vegas to attend Star Trek conventions of which she was a huge fan. She was a special woman who is missed by all who knew her. Her survivors include: sons, Keith and Mark; grandchildren, Timothy, Ryan, Derek, Casey and Evelyn; nephews, Michael, Jeffrey and Blair and great-granddaughter, Madeline.
